What Behistun does

Behistun is a Chrome extension that translates web pages using the Google Translate API. Text from the active tab is sent to a secure proxy server, which forwards it to Google Translate, and returns the translation to your browser.

What data we collect

We collect no personal data. Behistun does not:

• Store any text you translate
• Track which pages you visit
• Collect your IP address or location
• Require an account or login
• Use cookies or local analytics

How translation works

Text from the page you are translating is sent to a Cloudflare Worker proxy, which calls the Google Translate API. The proxy does not log or store any translated content. Google's own privacy policy applies to text processed by their API: policies.google.com/privacy.

Permissions

Behistun requests the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab — to read and modify the current tab's content for translation
• storage — to save your language and feature preferences locally
• scripting — to inject the translation script into the page
• contextMenus — to add a right-click "Translate with Behistun" option

Third-party services

Behistun uses Google Translate API for translation. Text you translate is subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
